Speaker 0: so amazon is launching their own version of shark tank where winners get to be amazon sellers, you know, and one contestant per episode will get twenty thousand. what do you think about this? Speaker 1: i like it. it's kinda like qvc meets shark tank. it's interesting. it's this is smart because amazon obviously has a platform with prime and prime video. right? and they they are branching out. i think they've got some live sports that they broadcast on their platform. but, like, they've never had that. they've never bridged that or they've never created a bridge between amazon store and their prime video. and this jumps on that. it makes sense to build that bridge. right? this is great for people who have a great product because they don't just get an investment. they essentially have a golden ticket, and i'm sure amazon is gonna be like, it's gonna put these people at the very top and, like, you know, how they have featured on their stores. so yeah. like, they could potentially reach millions of customers overnight. like, they could be overwhelmed and bombarded, which is scary, but really good opportunity for people. Speaker 0: it looks interesting. they look like they've got, it's visually appealing for those people watching. you can see, you know, clips from the hopefully, we won't get a copyright claim for promoting this trailer for amazon. but yeah. you can see it's interesting. the people with the products and some recognizable faces there that are obviously part of the celebrity. Speaker 1: tony hawk is on this. i love tony hawk. he's a great entrepreneur, by the way. i don't know if you know who he is. he's a skateboarder. yeah. yeah. he's he had probably one of the best games for playstation with, with his skateboarding games, and the soundtracks are awesome. it looks like the host is jb smoove, which yeah. i like him too. he's really good. Speaker 0: it looks visually good. it looks exciting. you know, it's, obviously, a spin off of shark tank, which has got a long illustrious history. it's great promotion for amazon. yeah. so i think it's a good idea because, you know, everyone wants to be an entrepreneur. everyone wants to be a star. and i was Speaker 1: like, oh, well, people it's easy to Speaker 0: get into the amazon store and be selling stuff in general. i know lots of people are doing it. now with a show, it'll kinda light fire under people's butts to actually do it. Speaker 1: for sure. yeah. i as much as i i i'm not a fan of the monopoly that amazon has. as i i can't find anything really negative about this to say because it's smart. it gets people it gets people into their ecosystem more. it promotes their ecosystem more. yeah. Speaker 0: and it's the show is called the buy it now, and they're gonna have, a buy it now storefront that's dedicated to this stuff from the show on top of yeah. so, definitely, amazon's buy it now is gonna be a brand onto itself. Speaker 1: yeah. Speaker 0: and shark tank came from the japanese reality show tigers of money. i'm not sure if people know that back in two thousand and one. and then the idea went, and it went to the british dragon's den. you know? and it came to in two thousand and five and then canada in two thousand six. and the canadian version, you know, followed a similar, format to the british version. after the canadian one became a hit, that's when shark tank a few years later. and, our very own sean wise here went down. he was part of, setting up dragon's den here. he was behind the scenes doing a whole bunch of stuff. he was, entrepreneur in residence and whatnot on the show. and then, he went down to help them set up shark tank. i don't know if you knew that. Speaker 1: no. i didn't. no. Speaker 0: so so long, interesting history, and these shows are very popular. and i think more people can buy it now than get into shark tank? because i think it's more reachable, more attainable. people can touch it, feel it, see it easier. what do you think? Speaker 1: yeah. we'll see we'll see what the access is like. but, like, this is great. it it helps them on three different fronts, and hopefully, it'll help others and make it more accessible. but i think it's gonna drive more prime video subscriptions. it's a great new source for innovative products for their marketplace, and it's a marketing gold mine. like, it's a triple win, essentially, for amazon. and, yeah, really, really smart move on their end. i just hope they execute it well. let's just put it that way. because this is new territory for them. Speaker 0: like, the video looked visually good. the format is entrepreneurs have ninety seconds to pitch their product to a live audience of a hundred people. the feedback here is critical. only those who garner strong interest from the audience move forward to the celebrity judges. so it's gonna be like, america's got talent. you get all the crappy stuff at first, not getting voted off, so people have a little fun around that maybe. yep. and, the celebrity judges like gwyneth paltrow, anthony anderson, jamie, siminoff, the founder of ring. you mentioned tony hawk on there and, smooth. so it looks interesting. it looks like it'll be fun. and, again, contestants are vying for twenty thousand dollar prize and a spot on amazon's buy it now storefront. so that will obviously elevate their product sales significantly. i think it's a sure idea. i think because, it'll be interesting to see if they do interviews, if they're gonna buy it now canada, or they're gonna just do you know, as they go out, because they have different amazon stores. he like, we may or may not be able to buy it now storefront in the us. Speaker 1: yeah. Speaker 0: so it'd be interesting yeah. Speaker 1: the other question is is this i think is this limited to people in the us? can people in canada are they gonna have something different for canada? i i as we become more global, a lot of times, we still are very siloed. right? so Speaker 0: absolutely. Speaker 1: yeah. Speaker 0: we don't realize Speaker 1: yeah. like samsung's freaking ring. like, they only released it. they didn't release it in canada. they are actually now speaking of it in october, but still. like, like, just stupid moves like that. Speaker 0: well, i mean, you know, again, there's amazon us and amazon canada, netflix us. they have different shows than we do in canada from a copyright point of view. if you vpn in there, you can yeah. you can see the shows there. yeah. the different shows. but, like, with amazon, there's many times where i'm on youtube or on something i'll click on. oh, that looks cool, and it's not available in our region. i have to switch the stores, and it's not around. so that's the question of whether they'll be able to offer these things because you know, the digital world is smaller because we can do all these things, but it's still the real world. we still have borders. we still have tariffs and taxes and all those things. do we have to pitch in english only? i would assume you would because, you know, it's a amazon us show. so you would have to pitch in english only. but, ideally, if they're smart and it does well, they'll start be doing it in front in france or even, like, have a quebec show or whatever, depending on the size of the audience and the language. Speaker 1: for sure. yeah. but they'll expand this globally. yeah. for sure. and nowadays with technology, you can even just have someone's, lips speak and look like they're speaking another language when they're speaking english. right? so Speaker 0: yeah. absolutely. it was a lot of ai tools. i, apparently, can map other people's face on mine and my face on other things to do ai stuff. it's it's yeah. what you can do nowadays is crazy. Speaker 1: yeah. Speaker 0: but this looks great. go take a look at these articles over at tronto starts dot com. it'll have better graphics than this because i got better graphics tools. but, any last words on this before we jump on? Speaker 1: no. just, smart marketing for sure. yeah. Speaker 0: so openai.
